End Date: Null; this will be our campaign by default, so we leave it open.

The campaign is active? Yes

3.2 Tiers: On the Tiers tab, you determine how you want to reward your members. You must have at least one tier in your reward campaign. Genius Referrals allows you to have unlimited tiers to make your referral program more attractive to your advocates.

To create a tier, click on the New Tier button and select a tier type. You can select one of the following tier types:
  • Referral: This selection is to reward your members based on the total of referrals generated. (e.g., advocate earns $10 per referral).
  • Bonuses: This selection is to reward your members based on the total conversions. (e.g., advocate earns $5 when a referral signs up and $20 when the referral completes a purchase).
Then select how you want to calculate bonuses. You can select one of the following:
  • Fixed: Members can earn a fixed amount for each referral (e.g., $10 for each valid referral).
  • Percentage: Members can earn a percentage of the referral’s purchase (e.g., 10% of referred friend's purchase for each valid referral).
The next step is to set up the trigger. Enter the total referrals/bonuses required for this trigger and the bonus amount you'd like to reward your advocate. (e.g., 1 + referrals = $10 or 1 + bonuses = 10$)

Date Range (optional): By default, there is no time period restriction on your tier. If you want to limit the tier to a time period, you can add a date range restriction using the drop-down date range and set the time period. (e.g., 3+ referrals = $10, in last 60 days). Click Save.

After setting up the Tier, Click Create and then click Continue to skip the next few steps till you get the Finish button.

For more details on how to set it up, please refer to our Tier Setup guide.
Example: Reward Campaign with a limited time

If you want to create a reward campaign where your advocates earn $10 per referral. You'd set up this tier:
Tier type: Referrals
How to calculate bonus: Fixed
  • "1+ referrals = $10."
3.3 Multi-Level: On the Multi-Level tab, you configure how you want to reward your indirect Advocates. You can create unlimited levels of rewards.

To create a level, click on the New Level button and select how you'd like to calculate bonuses for indirect advocates. You can select one of the following:
  • Fixed: to reward an indirect advocate with a fixed bonus amount.
  • Percentage: to reward an indirect advocate with a variable bonus that depends on the referral's purchase amount.
Then enter the bonus amount to give to the indirect advocate.

Additionally, you can add a cap to limit the total aggregated amount that the indirect advocate can receive at this level. Click on Create.

After setting up the MLM, Click Create and then click Continue to skip the next few steps till you get the Finish button.

For more details on setting it up, please refer to our Multi-Level Marketing Setup guide.
Please Note: This is an optional section. Use only If you want to build a Multi-Level Marketing campaign. MLM is only available on certain Genius plans. See our plans and pricing here.

3.4 Additional Rules: On the Additional Rules tab, you can add extra rules to get more flexibility to your referral campaign.

Use the following rules to determine when a member can earn a bonus:

1- Number of Days After Referral Registration
Set the time frame an advocate is qualified to earn a bonus after a referral is created. ( e.g., Get $5 when your friends complete a purchase within the first week. Empty => no limit, 7 => 7 days, 15 => 15 days, etc.)

2- Minimum Referral Purchase Amount Required
Enter the minimum purchase amount required by a referral to trigger a bonus. When the purchase amount is lower than the value set on this rule, the advocate does not earn a bonus. (e.g., Refer a friend and earn $5 when your friends spend $50 or more. Empty => no limit, $2.)

3- Maximum Bonus Amount Allowed
Enter the maximum value of the bonus a referrer can earn. This rule only applies to percentage-based tiers. (i.e., Refer a friend and get 15% of your friend's total purchase, up to a $100 bonus per purchase. Empty => no limit, $2.)

4- Maximum Amount Allowed Per Advocate
Enter the total aggregated amount of bonuses an advocate can earn. You can also add a date range restriction to this rule to limit the amount to a period of time. (e.g., Refer a friend and get 50% of your friend's total purchase; you can win up to $550 bonuses in a calendar year. Empty => no limit, $2.)

5- Recurring Bonuses Limit
Set a limit on the number of recurring bonuses that will be triggered. A recurring program allows a bonus to be earned for every purchase a referral makes, not just a bonus on their first purchase alone. (e.g., Refer a friend and earn 10% of your friend's first 5 purchases. Empty => no limit, 1 => 1 bonus, 2 => 2 bonuses, etc.)

6- Minimum Bonus Amount Allowed
Enter the minimum value of the bonus that an advocate can earn. This rule only applies to percentage-based tiers. (i.e., Refer a friend and get 50% of your friend's total purchase, with a minimum bonus of $10. Empty => no limit, $2.)

7-Referral Bonus Amount (Double-sided)
Enter the bonus amount the referral earns. This rule is used in double-sided campaigns where both the advocate and referral are rewarded after purchase. (e.g., Refer a friend and get 50% of your friend's purchase. Your friend also earns $10 towards the next purchase. Empty => no bonus for the referral, 10 => $10 bonus for the referral, etc.).

After setting up your Additional campaign, Click Continue and then click Finish.

For more details on how to set it up, please refer to our Additional Rules guide.
Please Note: This section is optional, recommended only If you want to add extras rules to your referral program.
When you're done setting up your referral program, click Finish. The next step is to customize the content for Share Messaging.
